CJ's Since 1970.
A letter to our customers
For More than 50 years CJ's has been serving our precious community. When CJ passed in March 2023, I considered closing but thought, if possible, it was best to stay open and continue the Legacy he had worked so hard for over the last 53 years.
I spent manyyyyy summer days at the florist as a kid wandering around, exploring the flowers and all the nooks and crannys of the florist. One of my favorite things was playing on the old typewriter in the photography room. Mornings at the florist as a kid meant biscuits and gravy from Hardees and maybe a Cooley burger for lunch if Mama A or Uncle Cj hadn't whipped up something yummy. Artsy things such as florals, painting, and music have always been a passion but until this year only a hobby.
While I am hoping to make positive changes in the business, I want to keep some staples that make it CJ’s such as crystal and fine glass. I want CJ’s to be a place where people come and feel at home. My hope is that whoever walks through the doors feels warmth and happiness. I hope that we will continue to be able to serve our community through fabulous florals and gifts. We hope through earning your business we can also cultivate friendships as well as be an asset to our community and its growth.

History
In August 1970, amidst the humid Mississippi summer heat, Cj’s Florist and Gifts, first opened its doors to the public, on south street in Waynesboro, Ms. In the 1980’s CJs moved to the current building at 402 azalea dr. C.J. Anderson, Jr had a true LOVE for beautiful things but ESPECIALLY beautiful flowers. He frequently told “his girls” (Jessica and Kassidy) how blessed he was as he had, “never worked a day in his life” he truly adored his job. During his time at the florist, he did floral design, photography, wedding planning, and with “Mama A”, even catering for special events. Many in our small town knew C. J. from his involvement in special events in their lives.
C. J. was an active member of First Baptist Church of Buckatunna and considered the other church members as part of his family. He enjoyed designing floral arrangements for the sanctuary and for special events at the church. His most remembered contribution to potlucks and special occasions was his banana pudding (it really was something special). He loved being able to deliver them to his friends to brighten their day. One of his favorite hobbies included working in his yard cultivating his flower garden. C. J.’s favorite moments in life included flowers, friends, and time spent with “his girls”.
CJs Florist will continue to operate with the daily goal of making your special occasion, special event, holiday, or even just a random Tuesday a little more special. Fabulous florals will continue to be our daily mission and goal. We are excited to be able to continue Cjs Legacy. CJ himself had such a huge impact on our little community. I hope we are able to continue to have a positive impact and to be able to EARN your business.
